{"id":300,"date":"2015-10-20T06:09:10","date_gmt":"2015-10-20T10:09:10","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/mrsdprojects.ri.cmu.edu\/2015teamf\/?page_id=300"},"modified":"2015-11-18T03:19:01","modified_gmt":"2015-11-18T08:19:01","slug":"fall-validation-experiments","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/mrsdprojects.ri.cmu.edu\/2015teamf\/project-management\/test-plan\/fall-validation-experiments\/","title":{"rendered":"Fall Validation Experiments"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Fall Validation Experiment<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Objectives<\/strong><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Demonstrate the ability of a slicer program to allow selection of insertion layers and for the 4DOF printer to \u2018pause\u2019 at the selected layers.<\/li>\n<li>To evaluate the ability of the printer to correctly execute 4DOF G-code commands.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Location<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>NSH B506 \u2013 Team F Test Bench<\/p>\n<p><strong><br \/>\nEquipment<\/strong><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Laptop computer with following software:\n<ol>\n<li>Slic3r<\/li>\n<li>MATLAB scripts for insertion layer selection<\/li>\n<li>Pronterface<\/li>\n<li><em>.stl <\/em>or <em>.gcode<\/em> files for patterns to be printed<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/li>\n<li>ADD_IN printer configured with following:\n<ol>\n<li>PLA filament roll<\/li>\n<li>Unmodified nozzle<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/li>\n<li>Modified printer nozzle<\/li>\n<li>Lab bench tools plus any additional tools needed to change nozzle<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Test Procedure<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 <\/strong><em>Part 1: Software Verification<\/em><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Using the appropriate MATLAB scripts:\n<ol>\n<li>Load the <em>.stl<\/em> file<\/li>\n<li>Select an insertion layer approximately halfway up the part<\/li>\n<li>Generate the <em>.gcode<\/em> file<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/li>\n<li>Power on, configure, and home printer as necessary<\/li>\n<li>Load <em>.gcode<\/em> file in pronterface and print<\/li>\n<li>When the printer pauses and enters the insertion configuration wait for five minutes, and then press the resume button.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><em>Part 2: Hardware Verification<\/em><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Configure the printer with the modified nozzle<\/li>\n<li>Instruct the printer to print the test pattern<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><strong>\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Success Criteria<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 <\/strong><em>Part 1: Software Verification<\/em><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>The MATLAB script should not produce any errors<\/li>\n<li>The part should be printed at a quality consistent with previous prints without using custom software<\/li>\n<li>At the correct Z height, the printer should pause, enter the insertion configuration, and resume printing after the user presses the resume button.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><em>Part 2: Hardware Verification<\/em><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>The printer should accurately reproduce the test pattern<\/li>\n<li>The extruded filament should be free of gaps or globules<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Fall Validation Experiment Objectives Demonstrate the ability of a slicer program to allow selection of insertion layers and for the 4DOF printer to \u2018pause\u2019 at the selected layers.
