{"id":400,"date":"2015-10-23T11:41:12","date_gmt":"2015-10-23T15:41:12","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/mrsdprojects.ri.cmu.edu\/2015teamf\/?page_id=400"},"modified":"2016-04-01T01:19:17","modified_gmt":"2016-04-01T05:19:17","slug":"spring-validation-experiments","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/mrsdprojects.ri.cmu.edu\/2015teamf\/project-management\/test-plan\/spring-validation-experiments\/","title":{"rendered":"SPRING VALIDATION EXPERIMENTS"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Spring Validation Experiment<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Objective<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>To verify the following:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>The ability of the software to generate four axis G-Code commands with obstacle avoidance and insertion layer selection capability<\/li>\n<li>The ability of the printer to correctly print by executing those commands.<\/li>\n<li>To validate that the parts printed with ADD_IN have superior qualities than standard parts.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Location: <\/strong>NSH B506 \u2013 Team F Test Bench<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Equipment<\/strong><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Laptop computer equipped with the following:\n<ol>\n<li>Internet connection<\/li>\n<li>3D visualization software<\/li>\n<li>Printer interface software<\/li>\n<li><em>.stl <\/em>files of\n<ul>\n<li>P1: Part with stiffener rod<\/li>\n<li>P2: Part with threaded insert<\/li>\n<li>P3: Part with sensor\/electronics<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>Reference 3D printed parts:\n<ol>\n<li>R1: Similar to P1 but without stiffener rod<\/li>\n<li>R2: Similar to P2 with glued screw insert<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/li>\n<li>ADD_IN printer configured with the following:\n<ol>\n<li>Custom nozzle<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/li>\n<li>COTS items<\/li>\n<li>Test setup for each printed part\n<ol>\n<li>Bending stiffness tester<\/li>\n<li>Pull out strength tester<\/li>\n<li>RAMBo board<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Test Procedure:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>For parts P1-P3, perform the following:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Use Web software to load the .stl file<\/li>\n<li>Select insertion layer and print configuration<\/li>\n<li>Generate the .<em>gcode<\/em> file<\/li>\n<li>Visualize resulting G-Code and ensure accuracy<\/li>\n<li>Send .<em>gcode<\/em> file to printer<\/li>\n<li>Start print<\/li>\n<li>Insert COTS item when printer pauses at the insertion layer<\/li>\n<li>Resume and finish printing<\/li>\n<li>Conduct the following tests\n<ol>\n<li>Bending stiffness test for P1 and R1<\/li>\n<li>Pullout strength test for P2 and R2<\/li>\n<li>Force sensor functionality check for P3<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><strong>\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Success criteria<\/strong><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Generated G-code visualization should show the rotation axis being positioned to avoid collisions with the COTS item<\/li>\n<li>Printer should successfully finish the print<\/li>\n<li>Stiffness of P1 &gt; Stiffness of R1<\/li>\n<li>Pullout strength of P2 &gt; Pullout strength of R2<\/li>\n<li>Force sensor in P3 should be functional<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Spring Validation Experiment Objective To verify the following: The ability of the software to generate four axis G-Code commands with obstacle avoidance and insertion layer selection capability The ability of the printer to correctly print by executing those commands.
