Abhishek Mathur

Hello there! I am Abhishek and I hail from Mumbai, India. I completed my Bachelors in Mechanical Engineering with Minors in CS from the Indian Institute of Technology, Goa. During that time I worked in applied research at IIT Bombay for advancing perception in robotic surgery with the Davinci surgical manipulator using 3D vision combined with trajectory optimized motion planning. I also worked at IIT Delhi with partnership at Purdue University with a primary focus of building an autonomous localization framework for an assistive robotic ultrasound manipulator with dynamic ML and sensor fused point cloud processing. I have also partnered with University of Alberta for building reinforcement learning models for complex environments. Currently I am enhancing my expertise in learning and perception for robotics. I love reading mystery thrillers and scifi novels, geeking out about cars (driving them too :D) and travelling in my free time.
Tom Gao

“Hey, I’m Tom Gao. My hometown is in Beijing, China. I had my bachelor’s in Computer Science from University of Michigan (GO BLUE!!) with a minor in Electrical Engineering. I did some research assistantship in 3D vision before leaving UMich, and worked full time as a Software Development Engineer at Amazon Detroit before joining this program. I aim to apply Deep Learning and AI technologies to Robotics applications to create smarter autonomous machines, particularly in Perception and Reasoning areas. In my spare time (if I still have any), I like to cook, make espressos, read sci-fi, and spam instagram reels to my friends.”
Rohit Satishkumar

Hola peeps! I’m Rohit Satishkumar from Coimbatore, India. I’m primarily interested in computer vision and deep learning. Previously I graduated from NIT Trichy, with a mechE bachelors, and have 2 years of experience in the autonomous vehicles domain, primarily working on the Perception and EE Systems domains. Furthermore, I have extensively worked on classical Computer Vision and heuristics based optimization problems during my undergrad. Apart from academics, I’m very passionate about mentoring students for various competitive exams in India, and am also an avid cricket fan.
Kshitij Bhat

“Hey, I’m Kshitij, hailing from the city of Bengaluru, India. Before joining the Robotics Institute at CMU, I did my undergrad in Mechanical Engineering at Indian Institute of Technology, Indore. During my undergrad, I interned at IIT Delhi, where I focused on Deep Learning for Point Clouds, and at Lakehead University, where I focused on robot hardware design. I also worked on motion planning, control and SLAM for autonomous mobile robots at a startup. My current work focuses on 3D perception and robot manipulation. In my spare time, I enjoy cooking Indian and Italian dishes”
GV Keerthi

“Hey everyone, I’m Keerthi from Bangalore, India. I earned my Bachelor’s in Electronics and Communication Engineering from RVCE, Bangalore, where I focused on designing robotic manipulators and exoskeleton systems. Additionally, leading the Electronics Subsystem for our nano satellite at the university’s SpaceClub was a steep learning curve in embedded systems integration. Further, as a Staff Software Engineer at NI, I specialized in software automation solutions, with a primary focus on optimizing end-to-end test ecosystems using cloud computing technologies. Expanding my role, I worked on adding client-facing features to the product’s codebase, programming primarily in C++, C#, and Python. Currently, I am working on deepening my expertise in the intersection of computer vision and robotic control within autonomous systems. When I’m off the clock, you’ll find me on a late-night drive or exploring new places – because what better way to unwind?“
