System Validation Demo Guidelines<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

SVD Goal: <\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

For our Spring Validation Demo, we plan to showcase SLAM operating in cold smoke conditions using a single payload with a robust communications setup. The demo will highlight multi\u2011story mapping capability and the system\u2019s ability to handle rapid firefighter motion, along with preliminary results on SLAM performance on a hot-smoke dataset.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Location:<\/strong> Allegheny County Fire Academy (ACFA)<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Procedure:<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n
    \n
  1. Set up FireSense Payload v1.1 – verify sensor feeds and payload battery level.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  2. Setup command station.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  3. Verify the communication link between the payload and the command station exists.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  4. Verify the Record Button is working to record ROS topics.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  5. Fill in the metal building at ACFA with a smoke machine. Place miscellaneous home furniture at various places in the building.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  6. Present the system to the audience.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  7. One team personnel wear masks and enters the smoke-filled area carrying the payload. Another explains a live GUI to the audience.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  8. The person first moves from one room to another in the building.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  9. If the SLAM performance is satisfactory in slow motion, proceed to move the payload at a fast speed. Move to a different floor and observe multi-floor SLAM performance.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  10. End operation after 15 minutes at the marked starting point.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  11. Use a recorded ROS bag to benchmark SLAM performance against ground truth.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n

    Verification Criteria:<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

    1. Loop closure detection works correctly.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
    2. No gaps in trajectory or map.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
    3. Continuous data link between payload and command station.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
    4. Absolute translation error \u2264 1 m, using the starting point as reference.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
    5. Absolute orientation error \u2264 45\u25e6, using starting point as reference.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n
