Lukabot is an initiative that aims to take humans one step closer to solving the problem of social intelligence!
What is the problem?
The underlying fabric of our society is our ability to build relationships with one another, and key to that is understanding and acting on the emotions of the people we interact with and building personal history as a result. Lack of emotional awareness and responsiveness is a barrier to the seamless integration of robots into today’s society when at present, most robots and AI are viewed as tools rather than friends and collaborators, lending generic and emotionally dumb responses. Understanding the moods of a user and picking up emotional cues is the first step to building a relationship with the user, and our business is about lending this superpower to today’s robots and personal assistants.
What is the solution?
Our product is a crisp algorithm to detect the emotional state of a user from the 3Vs: verbal, vocal and visual modes of data corresponding to speech, audio and facial expressions. The detected emotion can then be used build responses based on the personal history of the robot with the user, the moods of the user and the task at hand. Our product will be released as a standalone API that can be easily integrated to a robot or personal assistant system.
How can it be used?
One of the largest markets for our product is in advertisements and marketing. It can track a user’s behaviour and responsiveness to particular products and advertisements as he surfs online or offline, which may be used to improvise targeted advertisements and recommendations to the individual. Another large market is in detecting frustration and anger amongst employees for the purpose of retention. A third way of using our product would be as a layer onto any robot/personal assistant/chatbot that has a significant level of human interaction(such as dating apps, VoIP services, etc). A fourth application of our product is in healthcare for physically/developmentally challenged individuals, such as in relaying the state of an autistic/Alzheimer’s patient to a caretaker, or helping a blind person understand the moods of individuals she is interacting with.
