Auxilio Robotics is a team of passionate roboticists committed to making a positive impact on the lives of elderly individuals in assisted living facilities. We bring our diverse backgrounds and multi-disciplinary experiences to build ‘Alfred’, which is a friendly indoor robot capable of providing personalized care, companionship, and assistance to this vulnerable demographic.

Abhinav Gupta

“It does not matter how slowly you go as long as you do not stop”

Abhinav is deeply interested in reasoning how intelligent systems perceive and interactively act in the real world. His ultimate goal is to build truly autonomous systems capable of understanding the scene, adapting and acting intelligently even in uncertain or unforeseen situations. He is a passionate roboticist and derives motivation from the far-fetched real world applications of robotic systems to enhance lives of those in need.

At Auxilio Robotics, Abhinav works on robot perception and learning-based robot manipulation.

Beyond work, Abhinav is a professional table tennis player and loves adventurous activities like rafting and bungee jumping. He is a big-time foodie and takes a lot of pride in his cooking skills too!

Atharva Pusalkar

“The need to see the bigger picture is everything”

Atharva’s work primarily lies at the intersection of embodied AI with intelligent interaction (CMU) and computer vision (DJS Racing). He also likes to build software and systems (Open Robotics and Hello Robot) that make robotics and AI research more accessible to people around the world.

Atharva is also greatly interested in gaming, room decor, and he has professionally played lawn tennis.

At Auxilio Robotics, he is the human-robot interaction (HRI) and software architecture lead.

Praveen Venkatesh

“If opportunity doesn’t knock, build a door.” 

Praveen is a creative roboticist with a holistic understanding of the full robotic stack. Backed up by solid fundamentals and novel research in robotics, he loves dreaming big and thrives in high-octane multidisciplinary teams.

At Auxilio Robotics, he works on robot manipulation, human interaction interfaces, and system integration.

From learning to speed-solve the Rubik’s cube to becoming an expert paddler (table tennis) with efforts maintained over a decade, Praveen deeply believes in consistency over intensity and everyday self-growth. He is always looking for the next challenge to pique his mind and is currently exploring the science behind cooking.

Shaolin Kataria

“If you can’t even be yourself, then who are you doing this for?”

Shaolin provides himself as a resource for the team in all disciplines, with his strong interests lying in dealing with customers and translating their needs to the team’s mission. His approach involves a solid understanding of the team’s mix of personalities, making it his goal for everyone to feel passionate about coexisting with their differences without having to sacrifice one’s individuality.

Shivam Tripathy

“Dream big and ask questions.”

Shivam is driven by a passion to build technological solutions that can create significant real-world impact. In this pursuit, Shivam has honed his technical and leadership skills through multiple projects spanning autonomous drones, electric vehicles, home robotics and space robotics. His trademark systems engineering approach to problem-solving helps him break down complex projects into simpler, achievable goals.

At Auxilio Robotics, Shivam works on autonomous indoor navigation and supports robot perception and project management.

In his free time, Shivam loves playing football (soccer) and playing the guitar. He also enjoys meeting new people to discuss unique experiences and points of view. Feel free to connect with him for a meaningful conversation!

My research is in Natural Language Processing (NLP) with a focus on grounding and embodiment. In particular, my interests are broadly: Modeling the semantics of the physical world, and Connecting language to perception and control.

Zackory Erickson, Assistant Professor at CMU RI

Zackory Erickson

I am a tenure-track Assistant Professor in The Robotics Institute at Carnegie Mellon University, where I lead the Robotic Caregiving and Human Interaction (RCHI) Lab. My research focuses on developing new robot learning, mobile manipulation, and sensing methods, with applications in physical human-robot interaction and healthcare.
