One of the goals of the project is to pollinate flowers using a tool. We have outsourced a vibrating make-up brush as the tool. It is powered by a rechargeable battery. The tool comprises of an electromagnetic coil that is controlled by a switch. If the switch is used, the pollinator will have to be switched on for the entire duration of the operation. Apart from being a waste of energy, unnecessary vibrations will also harm the plant. A PCB will be designed to migrate from control via the switch to control by our robot. In this way, the pollinator will be switched on only when needed. The tool has conveniently been designed such that the switch part of the PCB is different(and detachable) from the electromagnetic part of the PCB. This ensures easy interfacing without damage to the tool. The switch PCB will just have to be replaced with the custom PCB.

The pollinator has been mounted at the end of the bot’s wrist. The
robot header pins are at the base of the bot’s wrist. So the appropriate location for the
PCB is under the wrist as shown in Fig 8.
