System Requirements

Mandatory Performance Requirements

The system will:

 

  1. Fly up to an altitude of 20 meters.
  2. Fly at a velocity up to 5 m/s.
  3. Have a 2 minute flight time (run time).
  4. Drift no more than 2 m from planned trajectory during flight.
  5. Support a payload up to 5 kg.
  6. Detect objects up to 10 meters away with 5% error.
  7. Detect objects with 70% success rate.
  8. Track detected objects with 70% success rate.
  9. Give avoidance guidance to pilot at a 1Hz frequency.
  10. Avoid 100% of potential collisions.
  11. Not perform unnecessary avoidance maneuvers.

 

Non-Functional Requirements

The system will:

 

  1. Be completed by December 2020.
  2. Cost less than $5,000.
  3. Have a custom PCB.
  4. Be scalable in size.
  5. Avoid using Machine Learning in path planning and controls.

 

Desired Performance Requirements

The system will:

 

  1. Detect objects from at least 30 meters away.
  2. Detect objects with 90% success rate.
  3. Classify objects with above 80% accuracy.
  4. Locate nearby object position within 0.1 m accuracy.
