Schedule

Project Management Tools

We are using different project management tools to manage different parts of our schedule. We have broken our tools into long term goals and short term goals. Our long term deadlines are outlined using a Gantt Chart seen below. The yellow lines indicate our external milestones. Our short term goals are organized using a Jira Board. We are working in two-week sprints to achieve smaller goals towards the completion of our project. On the board, we have added swim lanes for each member of the team with the tickets that should be done by end of sprint.

Spring 2021 Schedule

The spring schedule is mostly defined by 3 milestones. These are Internal Milestone 1 on March 1, Internal Milestone 2 on March 29 and the Spring Validation Demonstration (SVD) in late April of 2021. The internal milestones are indicated by a yellow column in the schedule, while the spring validation demonstration is simply at the very end of the spring schedule. The goals for Progress Review 1 are to show the initial design of the manipulator, detection, estimation, and error checking subsystem as well as demonstrate the initial setup of the base. The goals for Progress Review 2 are to demonstrate initial builds for certain subsystems and integration of the base.

Fall 2021 Schedule

In the fall, we will focus on integrating the subsystems and performing reliability testing and improvements. Since the logging subsystem was not scheduled to start until this semester, we will design, build, test, and integrate the logging subsystem. We ended the spring semester with the hotspot surface normal estimation not working, so we will design, build, and test a new approach for surface normal estimation. Towards the end of the semester, we will focus on reliability testing of the full system and fix any bugs and make improvements based on the results of our testing.
